How To Make Sure You Are Getting A Healthy Bernese Mountain Dog

Research reputable breeders: Do your research and find a breeder who is knowledgeable and passionate about the breed. Look for a breeder who health tests their dogs and has a good reputation with plenty of good testimonials.

Meet the breeder in person: Schedule a visit to the breeder's home or kennel to meet the dogs and see the conditions they live in. This can give you an idea of the breeder's commitment to the breed and the health and well-being of their dogs. If you can't meet the breeder ask about doing a video call and if they provide transportation.

Ask for health clearances: Make sure the breeder has conducted health clearances on the parents of the litter, including hip and elbow evaluations, as well as genetic testing for common health conditions in Bernese Mountain Dogs.

Take your time: Don't rush into a decision. Take the time to research breeders, ask questions. Remember that a Bernese Mountain Dog can be a 10-12 year commitment, so it's important to find the right dog for your family.
